DUNES CAMP

On leaving Zagora, the Draa wadi loses its force and the oases lying like milestones along its course become ever rarer. After Mahmid, the waters lose themselves in the sand dunes; it has been a long time since they reached the sea. It is here, near the dunes of the Chegaga erg, in a place most fully at the heart of the South Moroccan desert, that we have established this camp.

Located at over two hours of trails from the nearest village, guests can enjoy real comfort and top-level service, while also completely immersing themselves in the Sahara Desert experience. Everything has been done to combine the charm of tent camping deep in the desert with very satisfactory hotel services.

Access

A four-wheel drive is indispensable; the camp is impossible to reach if you are not driven there, lying about four hours by trails from Mhamid and two hours from Foum Zguid. We generally agree to meet our guests at Zagora, Mhamid or Foum Zguid, from which we drive them to the camp. Ouarzazate is six hours away.

Life in the Dunes Camp

You are in the heart of the desert! Take advantage of the occasion to try a meharee, a dromedary-back excursion. A day of meharee is included in the cost of your stay, along with a lunch with the neighbouring nomads who handle the animals. The sumptuous landscapes surrounding you are ideal for this: immense sand dunes, desert pavement, tabletop mountains. Discovering the dunes by foot is also a fascinating experience that, together with watching the sun go down on the desert, will remain with you forever as an unforgettable memory. To fully enjoy this location deep in the dunes region, we advise you to stay at least two nights; your experience will only be even more intense for doing so.

Services

The camp consists of 15 fully lined cotton tents, carpeted and spaced well away from each other. Each “guestroom” is a spacious caidal tent (25 m²), comfortable and well equipped: carpets, armchairs, clothes racks with shelving, storage chests... and a proper raised double bed.

The dining room is in a large and spacious tent when it is not simply set up in the open air; comfort is here as well, with quality table linens and dinner services. The wait staff is uniformed, the meals generous and typically Moroccan.

6 chemical toilets and six shower tents distributed around the camp are available to you, near the tents. Candles and lanterns provide the only lighting. Meals may be taken either in the "restaurant" or in the privacy of your tent.

The camp manager, who is also your guide to the surrounding area, assisted by a staff of five, oversees smooth operation of the camp.
